Project Description
At Brother Francis Foot Care Clinic, ​Student volunteers wash feet, perform a basic exam of skin, circulation, sensation and assess general risk factors for individuals staying at the Brother Francis Homeless Shelter, the largest homeless shelter and service in the state of Alaska.
Clinic Schedule
Currently the program runs twice a month on the second Wednesday and fourth Tuesday.
Clinic Flow
Volunteers work in pairs. One person washes the client's feet and performs a podiatric exam while the other person scribes for them in a paper chart. Usually you switch roles every client. Between clients you clean your station.
Tips and Reminders
Be friendly! Also consider wearing clothes you don't mind getting dirty.
