When students have completed screenings or basic histories, they present the case to the volunteer provider. Together, they discuss a plan with the client and counsel the client on next steps.
Referrals - Undergraduate and/or medical students serve as referral coordinators for clients who Interpreters (in-person and via telephone) are available as needed.
During downtime, preceptors are asked, if they feel comfortable, to provide impromptu teaching to student volunteers.
Health education is led by the Somali Health Board in the larger community room, with additional organizations occasionally joining to provide education.
